World Languages

Students can develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of language as a tool through foreign language study. Our instructors are prepared to assist students in learning a variety of living languages. From romantic languages like Spanish and French to English’s closest living relative, German, students benefit through the study of foreign tongues.

Learning a dead language like Latin is helpful as well! Though not spoken daily anywhere in the world, Latin helps students understand many of the loan words that appear in English. Students more easily grasp complicated texts that draw heavily on latinate language, including Shakespeare and nonfiction writing, through a study of Latin.
